The Calgary boys are back and making leaps and bounds with their newest output, leaving all past releases in the dust with this impressive full length! There is no doubt that metal enforcement is in full effect with this speed churning slab of blistering rockers. Guitarist Matt Ries impresses with plenty of catchy riffs such as those on “Gamblers Of The Highway” and his soloing proficiency in “Heavy Metal Rangers”. Working as a tight unit, the rhythm of Shawn Vincent (bass) and Riley Jackson (drums) keep the pulsating speed and weight of this beast in order with a chained collar, and drive it hard until the very last note. Let’s not forget the mighty shrill cries of the enforcer himself, Dan Neil, who conjures the evil mark with his screams throughout.
When it comes to Gatekrashor, you will make no mistake with this album, for these Calgarians wear their influences on their (cut off) sleeves! “Force Of The Blade” is the opening track, with lyrics honouring the infamous Banzai label; if this release was 30 years prior it would surely be on Banzai! “Blood Money” is another great tribute tune to the N.W.O.B.H.M. outfit of the same name, and of course we can’t omit the obvious Razor name inspiration. But you need not be misled, because these maniacs are no clones of the aforementioned. They tread their own line, one that fits neatly in your record shelf in-between Iron Angel and Living Death.
